First introduction to international business was in 2010 sourcing egg incubators from Hong Kong for a Sudanese poultry producer. In 2012, I worked on exporting a blend of greenhouse GMO seeds from Saudi Arabia to Sudan. In 2018, I sourced mining equipment (washing plants etc.) to Zambia. In 2020, I worked with a Tunisian date producer to secure distribution in the United States amongst Middle Eastern groceries. In 2021, I was involved in sourcing mining equipment to Sierra Leone. Being an attorney by trade, has helped me understand various legal frameworks and allowed me to navigate all the laws in different jurisdictions. In 2025, I decided that I would enjoy doing this line of work a lot more than every couple of years and decided to form Ras Harba to "spearhead" the trade conversation between the USA and the Middle East & Africa. As a National Guard soldier, I have a special interest in working with other service members and veterans and supporting veteran causes.
I started in business by running a non-emergency medical transportation service, helping patients get to their appointments. Later, I moved into distribution, selling sesame oil and coffee across the Midwest. In 2018, I expanded into international trade, working with Egyptian suppliers to export fruits and essential oils. This experience taught me how to navigate global markets and build strong business relationships. Now, I focus on connecting buyers and sellers, whether locally or overseas. I also enjoy working with veterans and supporting military causes.
Ras Harba translates to "Spearhead" and the name we chose as we aim to introduce smaller, specialized US manufacturers to overseas markets and help foreign sellers and distributors find a market in the US. We follow the advice offered by Gen. Funk, "Nobody cares how much you know until they know you care". At Ras Harba, we genuinely care because, we believe expanding global trade and commerce helps communities here and abroad.
